Hit for Covina P.D. on (The following is an article which appeared in Minutiae Muse, a Publication by the Los Angeles County Regional Identification System, October 1994) by JOHN A. CHRISTIAN, JAC/CAL--ID Service
On August 21, 1994, an armed robbery occurred at a beauty supply store in the City of Covina. The suspect first looked at several items in the store, bringing one to the counter. When the clerk waited on him he pulled a gun. The suspect forced the victim to the rear of the store where he tied her up. Needing the keys to the business, he walked the victim to the front. When the victim pulled away, he struck her in the jaw causing a bruise and swelling. The victim was still able to flee and the suspect left on foot. Fingerprints were obtained by Officer Gaumer from the items handled by the suspect. The prints were submitted for CAL--ID searching and a hit was made. The suspect had served time in CYA (California Youth Authority) when he was 14 years old. Two months after leaving CYA, he was arrested for 288/211/207, and 261 P.C. (oral copulation, robbery, kidnapping and rape) where he served nine years of a seventeen year sentence, being released in December 1993. It is believed the arrestee will serve at least 20 more years for his most recent escapade.
