experienced Fingerprint Examiner. This is a journey level class in the
Fingerprint Examiner series. Employees in this class provide guidance and

Position Summary

Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to an Associate’s Degree from an accredited
college with major course work in criminal justice, evidence technology or
a related field, and three years of responsible technical experience in
the classification, identification and comparison of latent fingerprints.
Must possess a letter or court transcript of court acceptance as a
qualified expert in latent print identification and a valid Class C
California Driver’s License at time of appointment and maintain throughout
the course of employment. International Association for Identification
(IAI) Certified Latent Print Examiner or other recognized professional

SALARY: $31.87 – $36.49/hour

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s
Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in
Criminalistics or physical science, AND four years of experience conducting
crime scene investigations and performing lab processing/analysis of evidence OR
an equivalent combination of closely related training and experience.
NOTE: This classification requires the candidate to be able to safely handle
firearms and attend autopsies.
